An Evening Hymn of Praise

There is a beautiful hymn titled “Evening Hymn” by Henry Purcell; an absolutely beautiful version of it can be enjoyed at this link It’s lyrics are:

“Now that the sun hath veil’d his light,
And bid the world good night;
To the soft bed, my body I dispose,
But where shall my soul repose?
Dear God, even in Thy Arms, and can there be
Any so sweet security!
Then to thy rest, o my Soul! And singing, praise
The mercy that prolongs thy Days.

The Scripture in this picture is from this evening’s Daily Reading from Presbyterian U.S.A. For all of today’s Readings, click this link

May your evening and rest be filled with the serene security that is found in trusting fully in our amazing God. Good night, dear friends.
