Today is the perfect day to think about, and celebrate, the amazing uniqueness of every mother! Here’s a nice poem about this by George Cooper:
Only One Mother
Hundreds of stars in the pretty sky,
Hundreds of shells on the shore together,
Hundreds of birds that go singing by,
Hundreds of lambs in the sunny weather.
Hundreds of dewdrops to greet the dawn,
Hundreds of bees in the purple clover,
Hundreds of butterflies on the lawn,
But only one mother the wide world over.
God has blessed our world through creating us to be nurtured, guided, and loved by mothers – not only throughout our tender years as children, but our whole lives. Today and every day, let us honor them!
“Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.” Exodus 20:12, The Fifth of the Ten Commandments
